You’re invited on a private tour of Minneapolis Central Library, César Pelli’s architectural and civic masterpiece in the heart of downtown’s Gateway District. This specially curated experience will showcase the many surprises of a modern library and offer you a behind-the-scenes look at spaces and collections not often seen by the general public including: A high-tech maker space with 3-D printers and a professional music recording studio,  Vast music and cookbook collections that rivals any public library in the country and a historic grand piano that you can play with your library card. We will also be seeing high-security vaults of rare books dating back to the 14th century, and The preservation workshop where the library’s master binder repairs and restores more than 10,000 books a year. All this, and much much more!

After the tour, feel free to stop by the Cargill Gallery at the library to see the exhibit, "TESTIFY: Americana from Slavery to Today."  This exhibit of African American artifacts and artworks, which first debuted in January 2018,  is from the collection of Alan Page and his late wife, Diane Sims Page.  The StarTribune has a good article about this exhibit.
