What is an Advance Health Care Directive? Do I need one? Why should I come if I already have one? Simply put, a Health Care Directive is a legal document that informs your medical team, your family and your health care agent (the person you designate to make your health care decisions if you cannot) of your wishes about your health care. Most Health Care Directives are completed by attorneys as part of their client's estate planning process and do not adequately address the medical options that will be presented to you and your health care agent. Retired physician and MCC member David Plimpton will discuss the medical aspects of Advanced Health Care Directives including end of life issues such as CPR/cardiopulmonary resuscitation, IV fluid for hydration, feeding tubes for nutrition and antibiotics. Feel free to bring your Advance Health Care Directive if you have one. THIS PROGRAM HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO ILLNESS. It will be rescheduled soon.
