Dakota people have lived in the Minnesota River Valley for hundreds of years. The Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community (SMSC) intends to protect and preserve the area for generations to come through the operation of the SMSC Organics Recycling Facility. They take what may have been tossed in a landfill and instead create high quality compost and mulch for landscaping projects. Join us as we tour this recycling facility and learn about the ways that SMSC works to accomplish their goal of being a good steward of the earth. Parking is limited and carpooling is recommended. This facility is 26 miles from Minneapolis; please plan accordingly so you arrive by the 1:30 pm tour time. MCC is hosting programs for fully vaccinated members in accordance with the MN Department of Health guidelines. Please refrain from attending a program if you are not feeling well and please have a mask with you in case you need it.
