Grandparents often play a vital role in the lives of their adult children and grandchildren. At best, they possess and cultivate the ability to manage new challenges and situations for both themselves and their families. At this MCC Women Connect, MCC member Nancy Darcy will address these questions: 1. What is resilience? Are you born with it? Can you learn it? Grandparenting is a role that requires resilience. The term resilience can apply to individuals, but it also applies to relationships and family systems. 2. What influences an individual or family’s response to a stressful situation? 3. What is resourcefulness? Cognitive and behavior that can help with adversity. How does that apply to grand-parenting?
MCC Women Connect's purpose is to gather to connect and grow, sharing our experiences and learning from each other as we adapt to life's changes and transitions. Discussion ideas come from members, volunteer facilitators and a list of suggestions being developed. We meet once a month, from 10:00-11:30 a.m., on the third Thursday.
