About this event
Black music has played a central role in the development of American music and culture. In this presentation, pianist and educator Michael Cain takes a broad and accessible look at that history, from spirituals, blues, gospel, and jazz to R&B, rock & roll, funk, and hip-hop. Through stories about the music and many of the artists who shaped it, we’ll explore the connections between generations and the remarkable influence of Black music on American culture.
