About this event
Pilgrimages have captured the imagination of the Western world in a way not seen since the Middle Ages. What is behind this phenomenon? Why are walking pilgrimages, especially the Camino de Santiago de Compostela, attracting hundreds of thousands of pilgrims each year? Member Cheryl Grasmoen will address these questions and present an overview of a number of European pilgrimages, with special attention to the Camino, including practical information on preparing for this pilgrimage. Cheryl, a retired attorney, served for six years as President and Board Member of American Pilgrims on the Camino. She has walked the Camino four times and has volunteered five times in pilgrim hostels on the Camino and in the Pilgrim Office in Santiago. She now is a national trainer with American Pilgrims, training people to serve in the hostels.
This is one in an occasional series featuring MCC members and their travel stories.
