Emily Hutchinson
Executive Director

As Mill City Common’s charter staff member, Emily’s broad scope of responsibility includes managing member services and program development – including vendor relations and volunteer programs.

Emily earned her B.A. in International Studies (Johns Hopkins University) and M.A. from Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies. There, she concentrated in both Middle East Studies and International Economics, served as a student delegate to Kuwait and Oman and worked for the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs at the U.S. Department of State. As a student of Arabic, she spent time in both Morocco and the Palestinian Territories researching the cultural and economic impact created by the influx of refugees.

In addition, Emily developed her skill as a volunteer manager through two statewide Minnesota elections campaigns, where she organized volunteer outreach and training. Most recently, Emily served as Regional Program Coordinator for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Businesswomen’s Network at Vital Voices Global Partnership in Washington, DC.

Leah Battin
Intern

Leah is delighted to be part of Mill City Commons.  She recently completed an internship in the Guthrie Theater’s education department and has just begun Hamline University's MAT program for secondary math.  Leah graduated from Washington University in Saint Louis in 2007 with a BA in Drama for costume design.  She then spent a year teaching elementary art in New Mexico through Teach For America.  Originally from South Dakota, she moved to the Twin Cities in 2008 to be closer to her family and to explore theater and costume opportunities.  When she is not in class or the MCC office, Leah is an attendant for The Traveling Photo Booth.
